Fur, patterned tights and over the knee boots: our cover girl Mahayanna tempers her impressive and eye-catching pieces with the perfect LBD. At the end of it, each of her original garments is emphasized by the sobriety of her LBD. By sober it means chic and balanced but never boring!

"This particular LBD is a favorite. We found it at a Vintage store on Haight street in San Francisco (...) Simple and chic with that special accessory and sky high cutouts was the route in these particular photos. Though, it's this same dress that could be paired with opaque tights and a cardigan for work, a leather blazer and combat boots for an art walk in the city, or strappy sandals and a floppy hat in the Summer. The LBD evokes limitless opportunity paired with bountiful challenges to always keep the 'same classic garment' very much the opposite; fresh and oh so new."

The magic of a little black dress explained by Alex and Amy...

Iconic Mouse's dress is the typical LDB. With its original shoulder pads and feminine pattern, it stands out in a very chic way. Iconic Mouse prooves that total black looks can be trendy and creative.

For Annie, the LBD is first and foremost about enjoying fashion creativity:

"The great thing about the little black dress is the how the entire concept has stayed the same over time, but what can be considered an "LBD" has changed. My dress, for instance, features white polka dots, but it still qualifies as an LBD! Little black dresses are definitely style staples, and I love how something so simple can be dressed in such subtle ways to make a huge impact. For me personally, I use the LBD as a vehicle for color, just how I paired mine here with bright aqua-colored tights. With a little black dress, the possiblities are endless."

If you are not sure of the multi-use aspect of the LDB, Irene will convince you. In this set of photos, Irene wears her graduation party dress!

"The LBD is an item that can save you in each occasion, so it's absolutely a must have of every closet! I wore this LBD for my graduation party. This because I wanted someting comfortable but at the same time serious and elegant. I have added to this LBD a brown vintage belt, a vintage bag, and H&M sandals."

Lanton ' s LDB is one dress for a multi-fashion-personality:

"LBDs are always in style, a fashion staple. It's sometimes very difficult to find the perfect LBD but once found, it remains in your closet for years to come. LBDs brings out every type of woman in me. In the picture featured, I felt like a celebrity. I paired my LBD with platform stiletto pumps, a pink blazer and leather gloves. It evoked the cool, fashionable woman in me. I wore this LBD to a wedding on another occasion with basic pumps and simple jewelry. It evoked the classy, elegant, and sophisticated woman in me."

In these photos, HYPEED's member Pettie had her friend, Lamia, dressed up with her favorite black dress. It's clearly one of the most sophisticated aspect of the LDB. Long gloves and pearls accentuate her princess style. Lamia is ready to play in the next Walt Disney production!

In her set of photos, Marita exploits the casual and almost bohemian aspects that a LDB can have using your imagination:

"That particular dress is one I bought quite randomly at H&M, it's not really my usual 'style' but I just saw something in it. What I feel for in it was the buttons and the fact that it has pockets, not nearly enough dresses have pockets, and it had so much potential when it came to accessorizing! The LBD is probably a must-have in every girls wardrobe, it certainly is in mine. Black is such an easy color to dress both up and down. A girl can't ever get enough black dresses, I can't anyway."
