Ray Ban, the famous sunglasses brand, was created in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb (who then sold it to Luxottica Group for millions of dollars) At first, the sunglasses were designed for the army air corps. The story is, Bausch & Lomb were contacted by John MacCready, who had made a trip into a ballon and who's eyes had been severely damaged by the sun.
