The new IT coat has arrived! The cape is chic, theatrical, easy to throw on, but probably the most difficult coat to associate! On Chloe's catwalk, it was worn with pleated pants and pussy bow shirts, for a half-bourgeois, half-safari look. In the streets, we see the adored cape everywhere, paired with high heels (always) and every garments, from camel shorts to leather skirts and minimalist dresses. And we see it in every form, too: ponchos, fitted capes, small caplets, in black, charcoal, camel...
The Cape Shape
"My mother bought this beautiful cape for me at Monki this summer! It has these leather patches on it, and pockets. I love pockets, however weird that must sound. This sure will keep the wind and snow from turning me into a popsicle this season.
I love wearing this particular cape because it's so feminine, with a little bit of edge to it. In general, capes give me great posture, makes me feel good - and it doesn't hurt that it adds a little to my height either. Thick capes like this one also keeps the weather out, and I can go out in the rain without getting totally soaked!"

"Since I saw this cape on Topshop's Lookbook I knew I just had to have it! The fit is perfect, I love the color and it really goes with everything. I guess there isn't that much to say about it, I just love my cape."

"An eclectic mix of quality vintage can look as fresh as Fashion Week's newest offerings. I love pairing old and new pieces to create a look all my own. Although, I must confess - I sometimes think I really should have been born in the 1940s!"

"This is not often the case with me, since I really do not consider myself as a trend setter, but I actually bought this gorgeous wool Les Petites cape almost five years ago, long before cape were in fashion. I knew though that capes were going to be a hit since EVERYTIME I wore it, someone came up to me asking where I had got it from. Now it just means that I havn't had to break the piggybank to buy one for this season, where, lets face it they are THE item to invest in!"

"This cape is what I like to call my 'soldier's cape'. The great thing about vintage pieces is that you can imagine the story behind the clothes. Since the moment I saw it I knew this cape had once belonged to a soldier who lived a heroic and romanic life...Maybe it's not true, but it makes the cape a lot more beautiful..." Clara

"I love to wear it because it gives a special shape to the silhouette, so glamour & rock too!" Cyrielle
"Not a lot of people like wearing ponchos because they are not form-fitting. I like them because they are so cozy to wear in cold seasons yet still very stylish. I like them because of the way they elegantly hang on your body and in a way creates mystery because you are covering up what you have on underneath."
